Conference Committee

Mission Statement:

To serve as a resource for Vice Presidents and Regional Coordinators to help create the best annual conference and regional workshops by providing insight and training and coordinating the resources necessary to accomplish these goals.

Commitee General Description:

The Conference Committee’s primary responsibilities are to assist the Vice President in coordinating the annual conference and serving as point person for regional IMATA workshops.

Committee Requirements:

Members of this committee must be from the Professional, Active, Associate, or Student levels of membership and be in good standing.
 


 

Committee Chair Description:

 
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • The Conference Committee Chair is re-appointed annually by the current President with Board approval during the annual conference.
  • The Conference Committee Chair is expected to attend the annual meeting and attendance is preferred at the mid-year meeting.
  • The Conference Committee Chair will be expected to prepare a quarterly report as dictated by the President’s yearly calendar. Dates for these reports are usually Jan 31, Apr 30, Jul 31, & Oct 31. These reports will be submitted to the President and the Secretary using the form in the IMATA Policy Manual.
  • IMATA compensates its Conference Committee Chair in the following ways: membership will be paid for each year served and conference registration fees are waived.

 

REQUIREMENTS
  • Be a professional or active member in good standing.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The Conference Committee Chair is responsible for coordinating the activities of the Conference Committee.
  • The Conference Committee shall assist hosts and active Vice Presidents in ensuring the execution of all aspects relating to conducting the annual conference. This committee shall mentor all Vice Presidents in their duties regarding the operations of the annual conference. They will also serve as the primary resource for information pertaining to the conduction of the conference. Although the VPs serve as the point person for their prospective year, the conference committee chair will manage any information or duties relating to future conferences or past.
  • The Conference Committee chair also serves as the point person for Regional IMATA workshops. They are responsible for coordinating the applications, soliciting for host sites and keeping the membership aware of upcoming workshops. The Anatomy of a Regional Workshop is a resource for this role.
  • The Conference Committee Chair will be responsible for updating the job description when she or he leaves the position, or at a minimum of every two years. The job description should contain the following information:
    • Position Title
    • Revision Date
    • Basic Job Description
    • Responsibilities
    • Annual Timeline/Flow Chart
