Regional Conferences

Hello IMATA members! We are looking to see who is interested in hosting a Regional Workshop in 2010. Regional Workshops are a key part of our organization; it gives trainers a chance to come together from neighboring facilities and share ideas with their peers and to talk about the things we love most, our animals and training. Traditionally, these workshops proceed over a day or so. Regionals are an affordable option if one is unable to attend the annual conference. If anyone is interested in hosting a workshop in 2010, please contact me at lonski28@hotmail.com.

Thanks!

ATAC 2010 Conference Presentation - WE NEED YOUR HELP!

The Animal Training Advisory Committee needs your help for the 2010 IMATA Conference being held in Boston, Massachusetts. We would like to have as many facilities as possible represented in the ATAC videos to be played during the conference in Boston. We are asking you to film an animal at your facility conducting a trained behavior that you find unique, fun, creative, challenging, or interesting. We are interested in footage of the final behavior as well as the training approximations leading up to the completed behavior. An alternative would be an interview with a trainer highlighting challenges encountered during the training. The goal is to be inspirational, share techniques, and show there are many untapped novel behaviors. The edited videos will be shown each day during the 2010 IMATA Conference.

The first step, before you begin filming, is to submit your idea to the ATAC co-chair, Chad Stouffer, at cstouffer@marineland.net, by 1 April 2010.

We recommend you get started now. The only way this project will be successful is if we have your help. Thank you in advance for your participation.
