2024 Conference Wrap Up

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the annual IMATA conference in San Antonio, Texas! The week was packed with memorable moments and enlightening presentations. A huge shout out of gratitude to our hosts SeaWorld San Antonio and San Antonio Zoo, and also to our sponsors. Without their support we couldn’t have accomplished so much. From beginning to end, there was something for everyone to enjoy: the icebreaker, our keynote presentation with Kelly Jaakkola, our research panel, a wide variety of presentations, fun days at our host facilities, a solar eclipse (albeit a bit cloudy) and the honors and awards banquet to highlight the best advancements in our field.

While the week was inspiring and created a sense of renewed energy, what stood out the most were the people. Looking back at all the different events, the people were what made them all memorable. Whether you’re beginning your career or well into it, these yearly conferences provide so many opportunities to bring us together to share successes, challenges and stories. Each quarter in Soundings, you’ll get a taste of the information shared at the conference, but the one thing that can’t be replicated is the thrilling excitement of being in a room with people who share your passion. For that, you had to be there!

To fully embrace all that IMATA has to offer, you have to be there, so we hope to see you next year in Chicago. Until then, take care of yourselves, your animals and each other.
